Savile Row History
London's Savile Row is the most famous shopping street in the world for men's bespoke tailoring. It has been the home of bespoke tailoring for two centuries, some of the most influential men in history have had their bespoke suits tailor made by tailors on Savile Row.
Savile Row has dressed kings, prince's and aristocrats for many years as well as many well known celebrities, politicians, film stars, fashion icons, business men and well dressed gentleman wanting a high quality, bespoke tailor made suit.
The quality and craftsmanship in a Savile Row suit is unmatched anywhere in the world, and is often referred to as "The London Cut".
The tailors on Savile Row all have their own unique style and for that reason many gents will stick with the same tailoring house for many years, often a lifetime.
The suits are not cheap, you pay for the quality, expertise of fitting and craftsmanship but a well made suit will last a lifetime. Compared to many modern mass produced suits that are made cheaply from inferior cloths, you are investing in a quality piece of suiting from the best.

Usually a gentleman will have at least three fitting before his bespoke suit is finally ready to wear. This takes around 52 man hours and allowing for fittings etc normally takes around 3 months from ordering to delivery of your suit.

The oldest bespoke tailors on Savile Row are Henry Poole & Co who have been there since 1806, whilst Ede & Ravenscroft on neighboring Burlington gardens are England's oldest family owned tailor.
Other long standing Savile Row bespoke tailors include Anderson & Sheppard, Gieves & Hawkes, Huntsman, Kilgour, Davies & Sons, Welsh and Jefferies and Dege & Skinner, all of who have been tailoring for more than a century.
