Mens 1970s Fashion

Men's 1970's fashion became much bolder and more daring than it had been in the 1960's.
Many men wore flared suits with wide lapels and bell bottom flared trousers.
The men's accessories in the 1970's were also boldly patterned, wide ties in bold patterns and brightly coloured cravats.
Flared trousers were everywhere, from wide boot-cut trousers to huge bell bottoms.
The "disco suit", a fitted 3 suit for men was popularised by John Travolta in the 1970's film "Saturday Night Fever".

The mid 1970's men's fashions were inspired by outlandishly dressed glam-rock celebrities such as David Bowie and Marc Bolan.
Wide 70's ties in striking bold prints, wide lapels and collars on jackets, big shirt collars and hipster trousers with wide flared bottoms.
Loud, psychedelic, glittery and striking prints were everywhere.

Hippies were still going strong from the late 1960's, they also were still wearing bright and colourful clothing.
Many are taking drugs, most likely the influence for all those outrageous psychedelic patterns and outlandish outfits...

For the more casual 70's man, flared jeans and t-shirt with a fitted blazer with wide lapels were popular attire.

Carnaby street and Kings Road were fashion central for Londoners, many well known celebrities shopped, hung out and set new trends on Carnaby street.
